Ventin' Appreciation

Honestly, it can be overwhelming the amount of negative feedback one gets in life. I've been known to be able to bring down a room. But sometimes one needs to have an outlet to talk about the things that are going right; the things that are good; to vent appreciation and good feelings.

I think the easiest thing in the world is to tear something or someone down. In part this comes from the lack of true perfection in the world. One can look at a sunset and comment on the effect of air pollution, and many do. Have you ever sat in a movie, and generally had a good time, but when you were asked what you thought of it, you felt obligated to single out what could have been done better?

I think people feel that if they are not critical (in the negative sense) that they are fools. Think about it: by saying being critical one sets himself up as being smarter and superior to someone else. It's a huge status play: "That loser multi-millionaire producer/director! I could create a better two-hour movie."

So, for my own mental health and to add appreciation to the world, I'm going to post positive, appreciative reviews of things within entertainment. It is necessary to disclose that I am the community affairs director for a musical theatre company, so I'm not unencumbered by self-interest here. But I don't think anybody truly is. Just know this: I won't lie. If there is something I don't like, I won't say I did.

But at the end of the day, this site is where to find "the good stuff." Truthful, appreciative reviews of the hard work done by those who seek to enlighten and entertain us.
